Information:

Odessa came from a shelter in Houston, TX where her time was past up.  The shelter workers had kept her safe because they all loved her and asked if we could help so she wouldn't have to be euthanized.  Odessa is a total love and is doing great with my 4 dogs, big and small.  She can be territorial with bones and food, so she eats in the crate and only gets bones when I can supervise.  She is completely house and crate trained and loves to sleep in the human bed!  She is not a high energy dog and is happy to lounge on the couch and watch TV with her person and foster siblings.  Odessa would love to find a home with fewer dogs so she can get more one on one time with her person!  Could you be the family for her? She isn't completely blind and gets around great!  Let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer them as honestly as I can.  Please consider adopting this sweetheart!!  You won't regret it!

Update 7/1/10:
Odessa is an approximately 6 year old, spayed, Catahoula Leapord Dog. Her breed is known for assisting hunters and watching over the home. She gets along well with male dogs, is a little unsure with female dog, and isn't too sure on how to interpert play. Odessa is blind in both eyes due to cataracts; she appears to 'see' shadows in bright light and can negotiate around a house in a day or 2.
Odessa is NOT cat friendly, however she previously lived with Dachshunds.

She LOVES to lounge on a dog bed or near you and likes chew toys. She is housebroken, and can smell food a mile away =) She is afraid of thunder and the vacuum, so she's best kept in a different room or crate. Odessa is crate trained.

Update 8/16/10:
Odessa is a love of a throw rug. She's loves to snuggle and is happy to have you near her. Odessa is not cat-friendly as her sense of hearing and smell work just fine. She will find a cat.
Odessa has a baritone bark that she doesn't use often, but will let you know when she's excited or if something catches her interest.
She does live with other dogs; male and female, and does fine. Odessa is a bit picky with the females though. If you have a confident female, Odessa may not associate with her. Males, however, she doesn't mind at all.
Odessa likes to play ball. Although she cannot see, she can see shadows. She also likes to be around her people and is incline to sometimes chill out on her own.
There is an exploratory procedure to determine if her retinas are healthy enough for cataract surgery. However, for rescue, it is cost-prohibative. Donations are appreciated to help determine if Odessa's sight can be restored.

Do you have room for a 60lbs. throw rug who loves to be around people, and pretty much one chill dog?

UPDATE: 3/11/10
Odessa isn't too fond of the crate but goes in willingly with treats.  I think she finds the crate silly and useless and feels that being crated is beneath her!  She eats both meals in the crate and sleeps most nights in the crate, but she prefers the human bed!  She is cat aggressive and plays best with submissive dogs.  Her best friend right now is a 9-month old dachshund and they play wonderfully together!!  She has lost 3 pounds so far and after a consult at the VT Vet School, we learned that she isn't the best candidate for cataract surgery.  No worries though, she gets along great just as she is!!

Odessa shares a bone with her foster siblings:
